May is Foster Care Month.

Foster care is a beautiful and difficult thing. In the United States, roughly 428,000 children are in the foster care system. In 2015, that number climbed as high as 670,000. On average, children who enter foster care remain in the system for at least two years until they are reunited with their families, adopted, emancipated, or otherwise. (Source)
